Description
3D model created to replace the CD player cavity found below the climate controls in late-1990s GMT400 vehicles and some early first-generation GMT800 Chevy & GMC trucks/SUVs. After searching extensively through existing 3D-model repositories, I couldn’t find a ready-made solution — the closest matches were for older classic cars, not the GMT platform.
The part is a simple, functional design intended to slide directly into the space where the original CD player once sat, providing a clean, solid fill-in for the dashboard opening. There are two versions:
The design is nothing crazy — just a simple block that pushes right into the old CD hole and fills it cleanly.
There are two versions:
A solid box that completely closes off the space — perfect if you don’t need access to anything behind the dash.
An open-top version with a cutout inside so you can still mess with the wiring back there. You know how on these GMT400s the blower fan connector can get iffy — sometimes the ground pops, the plastic melts, and you find yourself jiggling wires just to get the fan to run again. This version gives you enough room to reach back and actually fix the contact if you need to (just be careful — find a safe place to stop and sort it out instead of twisting wires while trying to drive 😄).
I’ve printed this myself and it fits just like I wanted — no trimming, no hating life afterward.
Stay safe on the road, keep your eyes on driving, and remember: someone out there is glad you’re heading home in one piece.
STEP file for easy modification in CAD, should you need to make further adjustments. Note* STEP file can also be dragged directly into your slicer, just like an STL file.
