Description
I saw this shape on the Antiques Roadshow TV program and thought it would make a good print. My first version had some mistakes, so I fixed them and printed this one. I think it is much better.
The mistakes were (1) The walls of the vase were too thin, (2) the arc forming the top lip was not right, and (3) I didn't like the layer seam that appeared on the outside of the vase.
Fixing the arc and the thickness was easy, but fixing the seam problem was bit more tricky. I decided to use the method of surface decoration I used in for https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/home/kangaroo2-2, and it worked quite well. The reason is that Orca slicer hides the seam in the corners between the wavy curve and the actual vase surface.
I realize the surface decoration makes a major change to the look of the vase. If you want to print the undecorated shape just print the -plain STL - they both are the exact same vase shape.
