Description
In the 1870s, a type of "torpedo boat" appeared in the navies of European powers, mainly using torpedoes as the main weapon to carry out lightning strikes on enemy large ships. This type of torpedo boat was different from later torpedo boats, as it was larger in size and slower in speed compared to ordinary torpedo boats, so it was more appropriate to translate it as a "lightning strike ship". In response to this powerful small ship, Britain built the "Havoc" in 1893. The ship was designed as a "torpedo boat destroyer", with a designed speed of 26 knots, equipped with one 76mm gun and three 47mm guns, and could easily capture enemy torpedo boats at sea. In addition, the ship also carried a triple 450mm torpedo launch tube. Used to attack enemy ships. In addition to the British Navy, the German Navy also developed similar warships, but the British Navy called them "destroyers" and the German Navy called them "large torpedo boats".
