Description
These models are for making an open greensand mold to cast a flatiron base. The handle is intended to be brazed or bolted on after casting. One pattern has a 'pocket' in the center to make it lighter with the same overall footprint. This one has an unscaled volume of 31.1 cubic inches, and the solid one has a volume of 41.8 cubic inches. Each measures approximately 5" wide by 8" long and 1.5" tall, depending on how deep you fill your sand mold. There are two small holes in the bottom to facilitate removal from the sand mold.
I printed the one without the pocket scaled to 80% due to volume constraints of my equipment. But I wouldn't scale down much further because detail on the edge will be lost.
Each took approximately 120g to print with the settings listed.
