Description
"This contemporary sculpt depicts Goddess Lakshmi in a relaxed seated pose draped in jeweled textiles and crowned with a high kirita. Two hands lift pink lotuses, while another tips a kalasha that pours a stream of gold; the remaining hand offers varada, the boon-bestowing gesture. An elephant arches in from behind—evoking Gaja Lakshmi—and a vigilant owl rests at her feet.
Iconographically, the lotus proclaims purity, the coin-stream material prosperity, and the elephant symbolizes sovereign fortune and timely rain. The owl (Uluka), Lakshmi’s vahana, adds a moral note: clear-sighted wisdom to use wealth rightly, even in darkness."
