Honeycomb Hex Organizer – Modular Stackable Storage Boxes

This model is a modular honeycomb storage system made of individual hexagon boxes that can be snapped together to create a custom organizer. Each box has the shape of a regular hexagon with flat sides, a flat bottom and straight walls, so it prints easily and stacks cleanly on your desk, shelf or workbench.

The outer shape of each module is a hexagon (honeycomb cell). The walls are straight and vertical, the bottom is flat, and the top edge is open. Along three alternating sides there are small rectangular tongues (connectors) that stick out slightly. Along the other three sides there are matching rectangular slots. When you place two modules next to each other, the tongue of one module slides into the slot of the other, so the boxes lock together and cannot move sideways.

You can combine as many modules as you need to build a honeycomb pattern: a single row, a grid for screws and bolts, or a larger desk organizer for pens, stationery, hobby parts or jewelry. The design is simple, geometric and clean, which makes it work in many environments: workshop, office, kids’ desk or craft room.

The model is optimized for FDM 3D printing:

printed flat on the bottom, open side up;

no supports required;

walls and connectors have constant thickness so they print well with a 0.4 mm nozzle;

tolerances are designed so that the tongues fit into the slots with a small clearance.

You can freely scale the model in X/Y/Z to create deeper or shallower boxes. Scaling all axes uniformly keeps the connectors compatible, so different sizes can still be connected together in one big honeycomb organizer.

Typical uses:

screws, nuts, bolts and small hardware;

3D printer spare parts, nozzles, bits, springs;

office supplies (clips, rubber bands, erasers, push pins);

hobby and craft parts (beads, miniatures, dice);

jewelry and small everyday carry items.

This download includes STL files for several box heights so you can mix shallow and deep cells in one layout. You can duplicate and arrange the modules in your slicer to build exactly the organizer you need.
