Description
In Japanese mythology, the kamaitachi is always seen with a sickle as a weapon, although in other versions it is said that its claws have the shape of a sickle, with which it harms people for no apparent reason. This being, whose appearance is similar to a weasel, is said to ride on a whirlwind causing deep but painless wounds. That is why wounds that appeared in an unknown way, or when people did not want to talk about them, were attributed to this being. In Gifu Prefecture, the Kamaitachi is said to ride in a team of three, with the first one rushing to stun the victim, the second one cutting the victim with its claws, and the third one applying the medicine that prevents the victim from bleeding.
