Nerubic Revenants

NERUBIC REVENANTS LORE: ______________________________________________ Hidden from the dying light of ancient stars. Below the ravaged lands of untold dead civilizations, ancient minds begin to stir. The Nerubicon. The remnants of a long-forgotten empire, who now emerge from their vast underground complexes, are immortal Revenants, an undying echo of their ambition. In ancient times, they were made of flesh, bone, and carapace. A proud species that built their domain deep within the crust of their homeworld. A hollow planet they called Nyx. Any tale of a surface far above and the endless Void beyond was nothing but an unblievable myth. Everything changed the day those myths were proven true.  The ancient Nerubicon now faced with this new reality, were driven into a technological golden age to develop the technology needed to explore outside the confines of their subterranean empire.  Upon exposing themselves to the endless sky and the light of their system's star, they were met with an apocalypse. Their bodies were not meant for the outside world. Radiation ravaged their unadapted bodies. Plagues decimated their population. The internal ecosystem collapsed when exposed to the elements of the outside world. What once seemed like the beginning of a new age for the Nerubicon, became their downfall.  In their desperation to escape the death they brought upon themselves, they resorted to the unthinkable. To forsake their own mortal shells and to transfer the remnants of their civilization into bodies built of metal. Their minds and memories are engraved inside the matrices of everlasting Rubic prisms.
