Description

You can use this as a base for your projects.

plate.json contains the dimensions for my bases

  • round metal
  • rectangular plastic

You can choose 2 types of holes for fixing the plate to the base:

  • Conical for countersunk screws
  • Cylindrical for semicircular screws

How to measure your base. Step by step

  1. Place a ruler and a base on the scanner glass. Try to do it without distortions. Scan the base, not the existing overlay.
  2. Scan an image with a resolution of at least 1200 DPI
  3. Open the image in any image editor (I use XnView).
  4. Crop the image by height or width according to the ruler image with any multiple size. For example, height 100 mm. Save the image.
  5. Insert the resulting image into any CAD editor (AutoCAD, Solidworks, FreeCAD, Kompas, etc.)
  6. Draw the circles of the holes of the fasteners. For holes with threads, I recommend drawing holes with a diameter equal to the inner diameter of the thread. Then it is easier to position them relative to the image. For M4 threads, the inner diameter is 3.3 mm. If necessary, edit the position according to the image. At this step, I recommend turning off the snap mode.
  7. Turn on the snap mode and apply the necessary dimensions. I recommend applying 2 dimensions: right and left/top and bottom. Then average the obtained values and round them with the required accuracy.
