Description
I drive semi truck for a living and always needed a small box or something for the little things we all need on those long hauls gum, chap stick, the little notebooks, pens etc. Every time I hit a pothole, or railroad track the little things slide, bounce and skip away. Decided to make use of all the time waiting for loading and unloading, loaded up auto-cad and here were are (yes full version). It is not a short print I made the walls thick and used 20% infill for a rugged sturdy feel. Prototype was printed using Sunlu recycled PLA at fast print (wanted to take it with me). Also the ridges from draft printing feel like wooden box In summer especially in lower states PLA will warp or even melt in the vehicle PETG or ABS will be needed.
Its a simple box with 4 pen holders at 45 degree angles with angled bottoms to keep them in place. Recommend to fasten to dash using 3M Dual Lock tape similar to Velcro but its much stronger and don't leave goo lines when hot even holds to glass in summer sun. My semi has a flat place for it sit, if you have a curved dash break out tinker-cad and make your self a wedge and use a piece of the dual lock to fix it in place. I am making several more for my work shop they will be great for holding all the little printer parts.
Including 2 sizes they are not resizings as the holes would shrink unusable. Holes are 12mm all the pens I used my calipers on, both of them were 9.5mm & 10mm So every 8.3% scale down you would lose 1mm.
Planning on adding clip on sunglasses holders with deep wells to hang on to them, as well as a small 3x5 clipboard for the directions or the wife's picture, clipped to the back as separate modular prints
