I wanted to make a really nice ACOG styled sight for nerf blasters that was both simple and adjustable. The rear sight can be adjusted up and down to offset for drop of the dart.
It's a dual sight system, one sight through the middle of the scope and an Iron sight on the top. Both adjust together. A small screw locks the scope onto the rail.
V2.1 Update - 05.01.2026
Improved strength of the clamp rail by adding 1mm of thickness to the wall. Also changed the orientation of the clamp rail to improve strength as it could split along the layer line at the thinnest part of the clamp.
Changed wall generator to Arachne to improve the way the cogs form. Classic wall thickness caused the layers to form weirdly mirroring the grippy outer feature.
Removed the thread from the lower half of the sight ring as this isn't actually used. Looks a little neater.
Increased the gap for the sight ring to push through by 0.2mm as it was sometimes a bit tight to push into the scope.
Added a V2.1 text to the inside of the clamp face.
Note: The first time you screw the threaded sight ring onto the Cog wheel you will need to go up and down a few times to clean the thread up before it will spin smoothly. After this it will adjust nice and easily.
V2.0 Update - 09.04.2025
Now updated with a split rail clamp that can fit both standard Nerf and Picatinny (and probably XShot too)
This means that it will also fit on Airsoft guns and anything with a Picatinny rail.
Printing Guide:
Supports required for the Main body - Tree only from base seems to work best.
The Clamping rail with the M8 thread MUST be printed flat with the thread horizontal with a small support under the overhang. If it is printed upright the thread snaps along the layer lines.
Both PETG and PLA seem to work fine. PETG is probably stronger if it's going to be abused in Nerf warefare.
