Ikea Kallax mod for door mount without entire box

Ikea has inserts for Kallax shelves, with doors (full, or with holes in the Skadis style), but to install them - you have to put the entire box filling the shelf, and through this box the door hinges are screwed. 

It is not always necessary to have a fully built-in cabinet from the inside, or it simply does not matter (and always - without this box - the cabinet has 5mm more space on each side)

Here's a mod on how to install the door(s) without putting in this unnecessary whole box. 

And in addition, you can use the remaining elements of the box as a partition (shelf) inside this cabinet. This is an additional advantage, because cabinets with doors do not come in a version with a shelf inside, which many people regret.

Instructions: (for one box, for one door)
- print (with a mirror image of one piece, easy to obtain in a slicer, or there is also a .3mf file ready to print) two elements "hinge-support" (if you want to make a shelf inside the cabinet) or "hinge" (if you don't care about the shelf).

- print one element "support - doorstopper" (even if you don't make an internal shelf) - it is important because it limits the closing of the door, so that it does not fall into the cabinet, so that it is straight when closed)
- if you want to make a shelf inside, print 3 more pieces of the element "shelf support"
- insert any shelf (either from the "back" or from one side of the box) before you mount the door! It will be difficult later.

- the hinge attachment has special "whiskers" sticking out forward, which should be flush with the front edge of the Kallax cabinet. This is the correct position, in which the door will be flush with the front when closed, as in the original box. These whiskers are made to be easily broken or cut off later, they are only for positioning before screwing.
- the elements can be glued (double-sided tape, hot glue?) or screwed with 2 small screws to the sides of the cabinet. And yes - the hinges are screwed with original screws (through the printed element) to the side of the cabinet, so we will not avoid holes in it.

Oto mod, jak zainstalować drzwi bez wkładania tego niepotrzebnego pudełka.

A dodatkowo można pozostałe elementy “pudełka” użyć jako przegródki (półki) wewnątrz szafki. To dodatkowa zaleta, bo szafki z drzwiami nie występują w wersji z półką wewnątrz, czego wiele osób żałuje. 

Wykonanie: (na jeden box, na jedne drzwiczki) 
- wydrukuj (z lustrzanym odbiciem jednej sztuki, w slicerze łatwe do uzyskania, ewentualnie jest tu też plik .3mf gotowy do druku) dwa elementy “zawias-podpora” (jeśli chcesz robić półkę wewnątrz szafki) lub “zawias” (jeśli nie zależy ci na półce). 
- wydrukuj jeden element “podpora - doorstopper” (nawet jeśli nie robisz wewnętrznej półki) - jest on o tyle istotny, że ogranicza zamknięcie się drzwiczek, by nie wpadały do środka szafki, by były prosto w stanie zamkniętym) 
- jeśli chcesz zrobić półkę wewnątrz, wydrukuj jeszcze 3 sztuki elementu “podpora półki”
- ewentualną półkę (czy to z “pleców”, czy z któregoś boku pudełka) wkładaj zanim zamontujesz drzwi! później będzie to trudne. 
- mocowanie zawiasu ma specjalne "wąsy" wystające do przodu, które powinny licować się z przednią krawędzią szafki kallax. To jest prawidłowa pozycja, przy której drzwiczki będą się licowały po zamknięciu z przodem, jak w oryginalnym pudełku. Te wąsy są tak zrobione, by później je łatwo odłamać lub odciąć, służą jedynie do pozycjonowania przed przykręceniem. 
- elementy można przykleić (taśma dwustronna, klej na gorąco?) lub przykręcić na 2 małe wkręty do boków szafki. I tak - zawiasy są przykręcane oryginalnymi wkrętami (przez drukowany element) do boku szafki, więc nie unikniemy otworów w niej.
