Update 13.03.2025

  • I changed the geometry so that the seams hide in the inside and on the top and bottom layers on the connecting walls, which improves the quality of the print.
  • From testing it came out that supports are required for the joining elements to work perfectly - I added supports in the print profile.
  • The joining force is now stronger, you can feel the click when folding and you have to use a little more force to unfold - this makes it stiffer after folding.

To unfold the stick, you need to use the appropriate force, probably using excessive force will cause it to break, but I haven't managed to do that yet.

To connect the unfolded stick, you need to connect each segment separately by pressing them into each other.

I am still working on improving this project, so please give me constructive comments.

At this stage of the project development, I recommend printing from PLA, all the tests I carried out were successful. However, I do not recommend printing with PETG because my tests show that PETG does not cope with overhangs of thin elements.

Remember that this project requires precision, so you need to have well-calibrated Flow Ratio and Flow Dynamics, I also remind you about a clean and degreased plate.
