Description
If you want a filament clip that holds firm to your spool as well as your filament, this one could be for you.
There are a lot of good clip designs specifically for Bambu Spools but especially for 3rd party spools the clips I tried were too flimsy and did not hold tight enough to my spools and/or my filament.
So i tried to take the task into my own hands and designed a clip that holds quite firm but does not require unreasonable force to get it over the spool rim and get the filament in (I tried with TPU and it still was okay).
Especially for 3rd party spools this was a huge improvement for me.
There are two versions:
- clip for spools with a slimmer rim like e.g. jayo spools
- clip for spools with a wider rim like e.g. bambu spools or a lot of cardboard spools
For each of them i also added a version with built-in adhesion surface enlargement if you have trouble to get the things to stick on your build plate.
Unlike other clips they have a curved shape that follows the curve of your spool so they don't wiggle as much.
They also have a small edge on the inside to prevent sliding off your spool.
It may be possible to be a little hard to get your filament through the hole for the first time a clip is used, but if you take a piece of filament and slide it through the hole back and forth a few times the clip becomes smoother and easier to use.
I only could try to print my clips on my own machine, so i hope tolerances are not too tight for other people.
If printed with ABS i strongly recommend the version with adhesion surface enlargement. The smooth PEI plate worked best for me with ABS.
