Description
I've tried to keep the cost down and selecting parts easily available through Bambu Lab and/or Amazon, and if you're into electronics and RC vehicles you might already have some parts available that will help to keep the cost low.
Note: I've added both the Maker's Beginner Kit and the individual parts from it in the BOM (magnets, O-rings, screws) as the beginners kit comes at good value and many other things, so leave it for you to decide to go for the set or the individual parts.
The frame for each wagon are made with close fit for each part, so I recommend sticking to the BOM or parts with equal/similar dimensions.
Uses a low-cost FlySky FS-A3 or FlySky FS-GR3R receiver, and any compatible transmitter, such as the FlySky FS-GT2E or FlySky FS-GR3R. You can get the the FlySky FS-GT2E transmitter and the FlySky FS-A3 receiver in a set for less than €30 (there is a link to a Swedish retailer in the BOM where it's available for 299SEK).
The 2S LiPo battery was choosen by JST connector, dimensions and price, looking for as a thin and small 2S battery I could find that had a JST connector and a reasonable price. The JST connector is needed to easily connect to the ESC, which has a JSC connector for the battery and the motor.
The ESC I've used for several projects, it's low cost, small size and has so far been durable.
You will need to do some soldering and crimping of connectors, for the motor and for the LED headlights, but it's quite straight-forward.
And you need some good tool to cut the 2mm stainless steel rod, I've used a large carpenters' end cutting plier. Need to be cut 29mm for each wheel pair and 12mm for each magnetic link between the wagons.
To come, in process of recording steps! For now, you can use the photos to understand how final assembly looks like.
