Description
This is a mount for the Harbor Freight Mini Toolbox that attaches under a desk, shelf, etc. that allows you to slide the toolbox in/out. Access to all toolbox storage locations is kept intact. Toolbox drawers can be accessed without sliding the toolbox forward. To access the top lid storage area, simply slide the toolbox out until it stops. When finished close the lid and push it back in. One thing to note: The lid can not be opened a full 90 degrees when slid out, it's more like 75 degrees.
This my 12th variation of this design and I tried to think of everything a good drawer should have. I've been using it over the past few weeks and found it a great addition to my computer desk. There are stoppers at the front and rear that prevent the toolbox from being pulled too far forward or from being pushed out of the back. It's sturdy and has not given me any issues even when overloading the toolbox to test it. Even though there are no bearings, it slides easily.
I've only tested PETG. Feel free to use any material you like, but depending on shrinkage you may need to adjust as necessary
*****Cleanup around the support areas is necessary*****
After removing the supports, make sure the area is smooth to get the best sliding capability. I used needle nose to remove the supports and a small needle file ( also from Harbor Freight :) ) to smooth out any areas.
Boost MeIf you found this useful, feel free to leave a boost. I got into 3d printing to create accessories for my son's toys, this is the first thing I've designed for myself that I thought others may find useful.
Assembly/Mount information:
Designed for #6 screws - 6 in total - feel free to adjust as necessary for your hardware. I would be happy to modify it for you if you reach out to me with the hardware specs you intend to use.
I preassembled this to mark locations for the drill locations using preinstalled screws and a dab of paint on the ends to mark where I need to drill. This method has worked great for me, just be sure to get it squared up when mounting for easy slide access. Below the assembly information is the technical hole information.
