Description
UPDATE 2/9/2025: added 4mm additional length to the double-wide tray with handles (no-handles version not affected). Â When screws are added for handle attachment, small seed starters fit tight enough that lids don't fit properly. Â Large seed starters are not affected.
Â
This is a set of single and double self-watering seed starter trays for 127mm seed starters. Â It can fit any standard 127mm starter unit. Â It has raised slats on the bed to allow water to flow out of the bottom of your starter pods, and optional handles to move the trays around easily.
Â
The single tray with handles does print with supports, but it's very minimal with the tree supports. Â They do not need any support medium material with the print settings in the profiles, and will break away easily and cleanly both in the PETG and PLA profiles.
Â
This setup is part of a larger series of designs I made for your plant starting adventure.
I've included both PETG and PLA profiles, depending on how one would like to build these. Â I would recommend PETG though since it will resist breaking down from the moisture, and it will resist heat much more if an incubation pad is used.
Â
The double-wide tray can be printed with or without handles. Â If you choose to print with handles, the handles will print separately (due to build volume limitations). Â It also cannot be printed on the A1 mini due to its size of 250mm. Â The double-wide handles are designed to be attached using threaded heat inserts. Â You will need 3 x M3x4mm inserts for each handle, and 3 x M3x6mm screws to attach them (total of 6 each per double-wide tray).
