Description

I present to you V11 of my Jugs of plants bottle topper! Intended to be used with plants like lettuce to allow for a single plant grown kratky style to consume the full jug over it's lifetime leaving you a no maintenance supply of leafy greans.

It also fits perfect onto a countertop garden! Use a cotton ball as a wick to pull water up to your seedling when getting it started. You can start from seeds too using the inverted milk cap as a water reservoir. If using a countertop garden like aerogarden to get them starting you'll want to make sure the cotton ball wick hangs low enough so it's touching the water below. Once the plants look established or start taking up too much room in your countertop garden transplant them into a full milk jug with nutrient solution.

If your plants are pretty well started you can feed the roots into the handle of the jug to give it a really good hold in the jug so when it gets bigger it shouldn't risk topping over. You can see that in the photo of the basil using an older version of the cap.

Our family goes through 2 4L milk jugs a week and that pace seems to be pretty good continuously transplanting from the countertop garden whenever a new 4L jug is available. Then I plop another seedling in a cap into that empty spot on the garden.

The jugs are clear so algae growth will be almost guaranteed, you can use some hydrogen peroxide to fight the breakout if you want. But the algae is mostly just a cosmetic problem and your leafy greens should be ready to harvest before the algae completely takes over. No need to worry about cleaning the bottles after because they can be recycled for your deposit back!

No supports needed

Detect thin walls Checked otherwise it'll delete the strands that hold the plant

Thick bridges can help keep the hidden overhang cleaner
