As a partner to the popular End Cap Generator, I present the End Plug Generator.

This easy-to-use parametrizable model will automatically generate End Plugs for pipes and tubes.

Create circular, elliptical, square and rectangular end plugs of all sizes.

 

Easy to use

 

1. Select “Customize”
2. Select the shape of plug

3. Measure the Outside dimension(s) of the tube/pipe
    

4. Input the tube/pipe dimensions
   • A → primary external measurement (mm)
   • B → secondary external measurement (mm) (for elliptical or rectangular shapes)

5. Measure the wall thickness of the tube/pipe
    

6. Input tw, the tube wall thickness (mm)
7. Set the plug wall thickness (mm)
8. Select the end thickness (V1.2 only) 
9. Set the plug length (mm)
10. Check the “ribs” box if you want ribs to be generated (V1.2 only)
11. Select the rib type (none, smooth, sharp) (V1.2 only)
12. Check the “slots” box to create slots in the plug - makes fitting easier.
13. Set the Taper option to slightly taper the plug out at the end to provide a tighter grip on the tube (V1.2.1)
14. Select Generate

15. Download 3MF and print

     

Notes

• The dimensions are for the external pipe/tube. Just measure the outer dimension of the pipe/tube that the is to be plugged.
• The tube/pipe wall thickness (tw) is used to work out the plug size and head size - this needs to be correct!
• The secondary dimension is not used for the circular or square shape
• V1.2 allows changing of the end thickness. -Thicker ends are useful for applications like chair tips. Defaults can be tuned in the Advanced section.
• V1.2 has improved rib profile to enhance plug strength
• V1.2 allows the selection of smooth or sharp ribs. This has the most effect on larger plugs
• V1.2.1 allows you to taper the plug to provide a tighter fit in the tube - use the Advanced setting to change the taper angle
• If you want to print multiple caps use the “clone” option or “fill plate” in Bambu Studio
• If you want to have an angled base please use my Chair Tip Generator
