Description
Easy One-Handed Use - Quickly access your sunglasses while driving! Inspired from commercial options.

I recommend printing in more heat resistant materials (PETG, ASA, ABS..) if your car sometimes stay in intense sun, as PLA will tend to deform under prolonged heat.
Additional materials
You will need round magnets or velcro , see the bill of materials down below for exact compatibility!
Updates
Measure your car's sun visor thickness to know which one to print, if you dont find one that makes sense for you, mention it to me, I'll help you out !
14mm inside curve with mouth opening of 7.5mm
20mm inside curve with mouth opening of 10mm
25mm inside curve with mouth opening of 14mm
Most sunshades will fit in the smaller option, out of 1800+ downloads on the V1, only a handful asked for a bigger version. I have a pretty big face and my “cheap” driving sunglasses are those in the pictures, I'd say that they are a tad above average in size.
The dimensions provided are mostly to give an idea if your shades might fit as the case is not square, if they are an exact match, it's probably best to go for the bigger size!
Normal (Fits most glasses) - 65x25x165 (mm) (inside)
While I call this the regular, it is based on commercial cases found for sale online, ray-ban's standart “Aviators” have glasses's height of 58mm and should fit inside of this case.
Medium (Fits quite large sunglasses) - 76x30x165 (mm) (inside)
While I call this the regular, it is based on commercial cases found for sale online, ray-ban's standart “Aviators” have glasses's height of 58mm and should fit inside of this case.
Large (Should fit all… ?) - 76x38x165 (mm) (inside)
All while trying to maintain a size that's not too large for a car's sun visor, I aimed to be able to fit the big popular sunglasses models I received as comments on my V1. Make sure not to affect your visibility when installing this!
Deeper? Higher? Larger?! …In between ?
Hit me up with what you'd like to see as a resize that you think could be popular! If you have frames that wont fit in the largest currently available version, hit me up with a model name and a couple pictures of dimensions! We'll see what we can do !
If you just want a second glove box compartment for your passenger side… I'll model it, maybe. As long as you promise to send me a picture 😅
-This version has no supports!
Much easier to print and assemble, I played with angles quite a lot to achieve something useable while being able to print repeatedly without a hiccup.
No more risk of a bit of support being unable to be removed and risk scratching your sunglasses.
-Not necessarily an improvement, but a choice of style can't hurt !
-CAD model easier to resize!
I guess this improvement is mostly for me, to be able to release multiple sizes in a single model like that more easily! Quite a handfull of people asked me for a larger version on my last model, which was just not possible unless starting from the ground up, which I did !
Just hit slice and print! The default settings worked like a charm even on my A1. If you encounter problems with the upper part (that's printing at 40 degrees), you can make the layer height smaller so each layer has more overlap with the last one.
I sometimes get comments about magnets not being strong enough for the task… Do remember that not all magnets are created equal! I recommend getting magnets from the bill of materials below! Here is a short clip of my container with bambu magnets :)
If you like to print functionnal things, feel free to visit my profile and follow me! I plan on finding more and more things to model 3d printable solutions for! Dont hesitate to shoot me a dm, or tag me in a community post with ideas !
Here are a few of my models you might enjoy :
Since I have been asked a few times, I decided to create a patreon page to allow for commercial use of my models by licensing them on patreon, including a free first 7 days. You can also just join us for free to have previews of upcoming models and whatnot!
