Solving the Problem:

I wanted to put my P1S on a Kallax unit. I loved the idea of a big poop box below I didn't have to empty much and the cubes were great for filament storage. However, Ikea is notoriously unstable and I knew I needed to secure the unit to the wall. I also wanted a few extra inches (about 2) of space behind the machine for cords and breathing room. This bracket serves both to secure the unit to the wall, and also effectively extends the top of the Kallax unit.

Printing:

I used PETG on a P1S with a 0.4 nozzle and the Standard 0.2mm layer print profile.

The short end should be on the build plate.

Installation:

  • Materials
    • The screw holes are 4mm in diameter so many screws you have in your home will fit.
      • I used shorter screws for the Kallax and longer for the wall.
      • Choose to use 2 or 3 sets of Kallax and wall screws for each bracket.
        • I put 3 in the Kallax and 2 in the wall for each of mine.
    • You will need a slightly extended drill bit to reach through the opening to screw the bracket into the shelf. Mine is 2.5in and that did the trick.
  • IMPORTANT to screw the brackets to the Kallax unit before attaching them to the wall.
