Description
Introducing the Stripeshift Cube—a unique take on the classic Flexigrid fidget design! Unlike traditional Flexigrids that are printed as cubes and then flexed diagonally, this model is printed while already in a diagonal configuration. The result? A truly eye-catching effect where the stripes change their direction when you flex the cube. Diagonal stripes become vertical, leftward stripes shift right, and some combinations even turn into vertical or horizontal patterns—all by design.
Why the horizontal stripes?
Printing the stripes horizontally minimizes filament changes, keeping the print smooth and efficient. In fact, the entire model requires only 6 filament changes—so pick some bold, contrasting colors to really make those stripes pop!
Printing Tips & Recommendations:
• Rough Bottom Corners? A quick touch-up with a nail file can smooth out any rough spots. Alternatively, try using Support PLA, which can produce cleaner corners. Or, simply enjoy your Flexigrid—the corners will smooth out with regular use.
• Bed Preparation: FRESHLY CLEAN YOUR PRINT BED WITH SOAP AND WATER BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS PRINT! With 25 moving parts at a 45 degree angle, strong bed adhesion is crucial for a successful print.
• Material Choice: DO NOT PRINT USING SILK PLA! Use standard PLA or similar strong, flexible materials are best to maintain the model’s strength and functionality. I’ve successfully printed it with combinations of Bambu’s Sparkle filaments and Transparent PLA filaments. But I have been repeatedly disappointed with Silk PLA and do not recommend using it on this model (You have been warned!).
Why try it?
The Stripeshift Cube Flexigrid isn’t just a fun fidget toy—it’s a visual delight, a conversation starter, and a rewarding print. With its dynamic stripe transformations and smooth flexing action, it’s a joy to hold, play with, and show off.
