Shredder Gear for Staples shredder

Replacement helical gear (driven directly by motor) for a Staples SPL-DXC6G shredder. The original gear is a bit narrow (8mm) and its teeth can get stripped if the shredder jams (see photos).

 

Original gear dimensions:

• Helical gear overall diameter: ~31.5 mm
• Helical gear width: 8 mm
• Helical gear tooth count: 36
• Helix angle: 11°
• Small gear overall diameter: ~15 mm
• Small gear tooth count: 7
• Small gear width: 10 mm
• Overall length: 23.4 mm

This new gear is usefully wider (12 mm) where it engages with the motor shaft, so it should be 50% stronger and hopefully last longer.

 

Print in PLA Basic for maximum stiffness and strength.

 

Prints as gear and a separate spacer washer to avoid needing supports. These both need to be drilled out to 4.5 mm, and then installed with some light oil on the shaft.
