This parametric model generates panels to fill the empty space in your modular synthesizer. The panels are decorated with a fractal tree that gets generated with the model. Every generated tree is random, and therefore every panel you make is one of a kind.
The main features I wanted to adress with creating this script are as follows:
Fully costumisable: Compatible with modular systems that don't adhere to the eurorack specification.
Unique and personal: Besides customization, modular is about customization and personalisation. I wanted to add a bit of an unique personal touch by using generative art. You can generate panels until you see a result that speaks to you.
Less waste: Colors seperated in the z axis, so only 1 or 2 color changes necessary.
Parameters
Panel Dimensions & Mounting
HP: Width of the panel in HP (horizontal pitch). Each HP is 5.08mm, so the total width of the panel is hp * 5.08 mm. [default=6]
Panel Height: The standard Eurorack module height in millimeters. This should always be 129mm for compatibility with Eurorack cases. [default=129]
Thickness: The thickness of the front panel material in millimeters. A typical value is 2mm, but this can vary depending on material choice. [default=2.0]
Mounting Hole Width: The horizontal width of the mounting slots for securing the panel to a Eurorack case. This affects compatibility with different mounting screws. [default=7]
Mounting Hole Radius: The radius of the mounting slot’s vertical curvature. This determines the shape of the hole and allows for slight adjustments in panel positioning. [default=4]
Screwhead Space Hole Radius: The radius of the recess around mounting holes to accommodate screw heads, ensuring the decoration and border doesn't interfere with the screws. [default=3.5]
Slot Center to Center: The vertical distance between the centers of the top and bottom mounting slots. This should match the standard Eurorack mounting hole spacing. [default=122.5]
Slot Distance from Side: The horizontal distance from the panel edge to the start of the mounting hole. Ensures proper alignment with Eurorack rails. [default=4]
Mounting Hole Only Left: If true, only the left side of the panel will have mounting holes. Useful for narrow panels where space is limited, or for asymmetric mounting. [default=false]
Decoration & Design Settings
Tree Mirrored: If true, the fractal tree decoration will be mirrored, creating two trees in opposite directions. [default=true]
Recursion Depth: The depth of the fractal tree. This controls how many times the tree branches split. Higher values create more detailed trees but increase processing time exponentially. Recommended values: ≤10 for performance. [default=6]
Branch Length: The base length of each tree branch in the fractal design. Larger values create taller, more spread-out trees, while smaller values create denser, compact trees. [default=10]
Rounding Radius: The radius for rounding off sharp edges on the panel. Helps to smooth out corners for a more polished appearance. [default=1]
Border Thickness: The thickness of the decorative border surrounding the panel. A thicker border provides a more pronounced frame, while a thinner border looks more minimal. [default=3]
Border Radius: The rounding radius for the panel’s border edges, affecting how soft or sharp the outer corners appear. [default=1.5]
Branch Radius: The radius of the individual branches in the fractal tree. Affects the thickness of the branches, making them appear more solid or delicate. [default=1]
Pregenerated models were provided for Eurorack standard 1HP,2HP,3HP,4HP,5HP,6HP,7HP,8HP,9HP,10HP,11HP,12HP,13HP,14HP,15HP,16HP,17HP and 18HP. I do however encourage you to experiment with the settings and generate your own models exactly to your personal liking.
