Designed so that tape measure clip slots into cutout & keeps tape measure in place & front side facing. 

I like a tighter fit with my skadis holders so they don't try & remove themselves from the board when I remove something from them. If the fitment is a little tight for you then do a little sanding or filing for the fit you want. Fitment tolerance results will vary by machine.
