Description
I created a really cool twenty sided die and someone asked if I had a six sided die so I made that too.
The challenge in making dice is that if you print it in one piece, not all the faces will be identical in quality. For example the bottom will have a different texture than the sides or top. I designed my dice to be in parts that snap together. All of the faces are printed face down on the build plate and therefore all print with the same quality.
If you want the same look that I printed, you have to use a tri coloured filament and a glossy build plate. The glossy build plate makes the die look like glass and the tri coloured filament always looks great but especially when the first layer is set to Hilbert curve like in my print profiles.
To put the die together, install the connecting clips to the faces first. I put the clip onto a hard surface and then place the back of the face onto the top of the clip and push down until it snaps into place.
