Wanted to clean out my fuel injectors while I was doing intake and valve cover gaskets on my 02 4Runner with the 5VZFE 3.4l. I'm sure it works with many others, I tapered the injector side. Whipped this up and grabbed some carb cleaner.
Sorry for the screenshots of a video, thought I took pictures but I guess I didn't.
I used PETG, but it is a one-set-of-injector-use type of product with that. It started to deform at the end a bit.
Instructions how I used this:
- Glued carb cleaner tube that came with the can into the small side.
- Lightly clamped the fuel injector, nozzle down, into my vise. Make sure you have a few feet in front of the nozzle. The cleaner goes everywhere.
- Put 12v on the injector leads, I used a power probe connected to a spare battery on my bench.
- You could also connect to your vehicle battery with a couple wires, just don't short it out.
- Use a power supply
- Push the adapter onto the nozzle and keep pressure on it. (it doesn't click in, just a pressure fit)
- While keeping pressure on the adapter to the nozzle spray the carb cleaner a few times. You'll see the pattern clean up.
Used something like this from my local auto parts store:
