Description

The sound needs improvement. Let me know if you have any ideas or find a solution. I believe using glue can help reduce key vibrations and create a more resonant sound.

Up for a fun, musical project? This is a super simple 8-key kalimba design, no hardware required, tuned to the C Major scale (more scales while follow). Perfect for beginners or anyone who wants a quick and satisfying print.

Key Features:

  • C Major Scale: Notes are tuned to C, A, F, D, C, E, G, B. Easy to play familiar melodies!
  • Simple Design: Minimalist and easy to print (no supports).
  • Customizable: Experiment with different materials for the keys to achieve unique sounds. PLA or PETG is recommend.

Assembly:

  • Attach the Lid to the Shell:
    • Align the two protruding alignment pins on the lid with the corresponding recesses in the shell. These alignment points ensure a precise fit, allowing you to secure the lid with a single screw on one side.
  • Secure the Lower Hole:
    • Use the short screw to tighten the lower hole (this is for anti-vibration). Be cautious not to overtighten, as this could cause the screw to break.
  • Install the Key Block and Keys:
    • Place the key block and individual keys into position.
    • Secure everything using three long screws. Again, avoid overtightening to prevent damage to the screws.

Note on Sound Quality:
Please be aware that the sound quality is still being fine-tuned. While the keys are designed to the correct frequencies, achieving a clear, resonant sound without additional hardware or glue can be challenging. I'm working on improving this in future iterations. In the meantime, feel free to experiment with different printing settings or materials to enhance the sound quality.
