This model is an add-on to the High Flow Dessicant Holder For Spools made by Dän
This is my first attempt at a design to integrate an RFID Tag into what is already a great Spool Dessicant Container. I designed it for the Bambu Lab dessicant container but you should be able to use it on the universal version. Keep in mind that the RFID readers in the AMS are located on the dividers on the left and right sides of your AMS. So position this tag on the appropriate side of your spool facing the RFID reader.
Printing:
Tag will print out without text, enabling you to either write on it with a permanent marker or use Bambu Studio to embed text.
To add text:
- Import and select the model. Spin the build plate so you are looking at it from the bottom-up
- Select a base colour for your tag under Process > Objects > Body 1
- Use the Text Shape tool in Bambu Studio and select the following parameters:
- Font: whatever you wish (I used Futura in the pictures here)
- Size: 9, Bold
- Text Gap: leave at 0.00
- Angle: 180
- Embedded Depth: I used 0.8mm
- Input text: whatever you would like it to say
- Check [x] Surface
- Drag the text onto the tag and click to set its position
- Under Process > Objects, select the text_shape and assign it a colour which is different from what you selected in step 2.
Use:
- Re-Use an old RFID Tag from Bambu Refills and cut out the RFID Tag as a circle. There is a 20mm diameter recess in the back of the tag into which you can CA-glue your RFID Tag.
- Press-fit the prongs on the back of the tag into the area between “spokes” on the Dessicant Holder (see photos). I found that some holes fit a little tighter than others but this was not a force fit, only a light press-fit. I printed the holders and tags in PLA only and am not sure how this will work if the two materials are different types (please comment below)
