Update – v2 (2025-05-14):
- No support needed any more
- Added end stop to prevent the slider from falling out when tilted
Â
A simple yet effective filament cutter designed for 1.75 mm filament. The filament is cut at an angle by sliding a blade forward through a guided slot.
Â
Highlights:
- Fully 3D-printable – no supports, springs, screws, or nuts required
- Uses a single 18 mm segment of a standard snap-off utility knife blade
- Compact, reliable, and easy to assemble
- Prints fast and works great
Designed from scratch for practical use – quick to print, easy to use, and ideal for any workspace.
Â
Notes:
- Print with a layer height of 0.2 mm or less. At 0.28 mm, the slider may not function properly.
- The smoothness of the sliding action depends on your print quality and printer tuning.
- Preferably use PLA, it will be a slightly more precise fit than with e.g. PETG.
