Description
A special thanks to KojotE, who kindly approved my inspiration from his purge chute, which I consider one of the best designs of its kind. I would have certainly used it if it weren’t for the space occupied by the magnetic base of the recirculator.
A special thanks to alvesjc1 for sharing his remix Bambu Poopchute Adapter for X1C, which makes it compatible with the magnetic base of this recirculator. If you have the space, or can cut an opening in your printer bed to funnel purge waste into a bin below, it’s a neat and effective solution.
------------
The chute has a snap-fit front cover. For my needs (as I rarely print in multiple colors), it also works perfectly as a waste bin for purged filament. To empty it, I either collect the purges by hand or detach the chute and dump them out.
However, there is some space between the chute's exit and the surface below, especially for those using anti-vibration feet like Hula Feet. Because of this, it can also be left open to allow the purges to fall directly into a bin placed underneath.
PLA is known to be brittle. If the snap-fit tabs on the cover break after repeated attachment and removal, I recommend printing it in PETG, which is more flexible and less prone to breaking.
