modern minimalist photo box with print in place hinge and magnetic lid for 100x150 photos
2025-04-31 · update · i've now added a wider version (156x110) for people that had some challenges with their photo paper size, available has a profile and also STL
dimensions in mm:
- inner size ~ x:150 · y:101 · z:20
You'll need 2 4x2mm magnets, as well as some drops of super glue to ensure they really stay in their position and don't get pulled away from the slot.
important · make sure that:
- your filament is dry and calibrated so that it deals appropriately with the tolerances
- your build plate is properly clean so that there aren't adhesions issues and lifts during the print · if you usually experience issues with bed adhesion on your prints, enable a 5mm brim on the slicer
- please make sure that you are very mindful of the polarities of the magnets when assembling and gluing in their spots as you want to make sure that each section attracts and not repels the one that will sit above/below
- there can be a colour change, with the speed changes that happen on the lid once the bottom has been printed. I actually enjoy the result, but for those who do not like it, you'll need to adjust the speeds (i.e slow down the entire print to have a steady / constant speed on the outer walls)
