Description

I kept forgetting what each bottom and top surface pattern looked like, so I found the fantastic Swatch-a-macallit (https://makerworld.com/en/models/764047-swatch-a-macallit-surface-reference#profileId-699141) on MakerWorld. But I wanted something more minimal and compact, and since I don't need the ironing or wall surface swatches, I designed this to focus just on the surface patterns. I also wanted something that would fit in a 1x1 sized gridfinity container for easy storage and reference on--I can hang them right on the side of my printer.

It looks especially great with silks and “galaxy” types of filament, but it's also a good way to see which patterns don't look especially good for a particular filament.

Make sure to adjust your filament settings for each new swatch, and customize the filament name in the Objects menu. Highlight the object in the list marked “filament name” and then select the text tool in the top menu. You can type in the field and it will update on the model. As you can see, ALL CAPS comes out much nicer and easier to read.  I skimped on the flushing volumes because I was really only concerned with the patterns, but if you want yours to turn out really crisp and clean, don't skimp! There's only a very small amount of filament at stake and a max of 7 color changes in the AMS version.

In the print profile there is an AMS version and a no-AMS version.
