Description
Update 7/11/2025: After receiving some feedback, I added an easier-assembly print profile. This print profile has some altered tolerances and slight model changes to make assembly easier. I also included a series of gifs below to help with assembly.
This is my version of a transforming pawn! In a swift movement, you can turn this simple looking pawn into a Queen! I was inspired by several other transforming pawn models out there and wanted to give it a shot myself.
The assembly primarily consists of a series of concentric parts that snap down on each other. Please refer to the PDF exploded view, the instructions, and gifs below for assembly help.
All tolerances were designed with PLA+ so there may be variance with other materials. The model prints in several parts which all snap together and shouldn't require any glue. No supports are necessary. Some petroleum jelly like Vaseline as lubricant can make a world of a difference with all the moving parts, especially at the floor of the base where the 6 radially expanding parts are. All parts have tight tolerances and require a well tuned printer.
Boost MePlease consider boosting this model if you enjoyed it, there were a lot of prototypes and design iterations until I arrived at the final design!
