Description
A 1:1 scale model of a vehicle brake caliper, two piece rotor, bearing hub and spindle.
Uses real tapered roller wheel bearings so the rotor spins freely!
Mounted on stand legs to make a very nice desk model or even an educational tool to teach about basic car components.
There is an optional LED mount to cast some light through the brake rotors and out the back.
Please watch the video below for all of the fine details of printing and assembly:
All of these parts were originally printed on my Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo, you can find that machine here:

Some parts can optionally be laser cut. If you want the absolute best unit for acrylic laser cutting, look no further than the xTool P2S:
The files are organized into 3 main categories. They are saved in .3mf format originally in Bambu Studio. You can import into Prusa Slicer or any other Prusa / Orca based slicer and just change the printer / filament / print profile and it should convert fine.
The brake rotor surfaces can be printed in one piece if you have a print bed size of 300x300 or larger. Otherwise, you can print the rotor surfaces in multiple parts. Optionally, you can laser cut those parts from 3mm thick material like acrylic if you have a laser cutter. The DXF flat pattern files are included for that.
The following hardware parts are required to build the model. As an Amazon associate I may earn a small commission (at no extra cost to you)
Tapered roller bearings (1 of each):
Thread forming screws. You will need 35 screws, so a pack of 50 is sufficient. In the video I used M4 x 10 but these are essentially the same and easier / cheaper to find in North America:
