Mechanical Slots 3 Reels (Updated)

Real spinning slot machine with 3 seperated reels that spin independently of each other! Feel the thrill of the casino at home!

Updated 4/4 for better tolerances on mechanical parts.

 

Disclaimer: There is no mechanism to make sure it always lands perfectly on 3 symbols, so it takes some tries to get the JACKPOT! If you however want to stop the reels you can simply lift the lever to make contact on the gears and you have an increased chance of getting only symbols.

Note 1: Make sure to print all mechanical parts with random seams so they dont mess up the tolerances and fits.

Note 2: All parts are scaled in the printing profile to fit like a have put my slot machine together. Feel free to play around and optimize any parts depending on shrikage etc.

Note 3: Besides the printed parts you need a small elastic band (i used a small rubber hair tie) and some glue. Only the first step needs glue. Paint is optional for the reels so you dont use too much filament on the reels.

Note 4: Printed fully from PLA and tested for about 1000 spins but stronger material is recommended for mechanical parts.

 

 

Assembly guide:

 

 

Start by glueing the lever on the longer axle and the end cap on the shorter axle. You can also glue the buttons to the housing and the 2 topparts together.

 

Next you need to put the longer axle through the bottom hole and attach the hammer. Follow that by adding the rubber band to the hammer and hook part.

 

 

The next step is to complete the axle by adding a quarter gear to the axle. Follow this with a distancing peice of 16,5mm. Then another quarter gear. Then another distancing piece of 16,5mm. Then another quarter gear. Finally push it through a distancing piece of 16mm and push it into the traingular slot to secure the axle.

 

Next are the reels. Here you put the shorter axle through the top hole and add the distancing piece of 8mm. Then you add the first reel and make sure to put the teeth towards the handle. Next step is to add a distancing peice of 1,5mm and the second reel after that facing the same way as the first. Then you add another 1,5mm distancing piece and the final reel whilst you make sure the axle ends in the triangular slot to secure the axle. The final reel can be tricky to get into place but tipper the machine with the lever downwards helps alot. None of the reels should be engaging the gears while they are resting. They axle can slip backwards whilst in use but its easy to fix as the bottom is open. Another option is to glue it as the axle doesnt need to spin for the slot to work :)

The final step is simply to put the top on and enjoy your slot machine!
