Description
This design envisions a future where cities can float on the ocean surface. The cities would be built around districts of floating tiles that could be rearranged to make a new city to suit growth or environmental conditions. The cities would be self sufficient with industry/agricultural spires that would feed and make the things the city requires. Green space would be needed to provide the land-like forests and lakes.
The homes of the future would evolve to have community structures that lend itself to the ocean waves and water. However, many would still want traditional homes from those of the past.
With an eye to more eco friendly ways to produce things, future industry will center more on environmentally friendly manufacturing, scientific and agricultural structures. In particular, spires to raise crops high above buildings to get maximum sunlight could be envisioned
Given the relatively small space of floating tile, high rise buildings for work, living and play are necessary.
Greenspace with fresh water will become all the more necessary to maintain a natural balance in an otherwise synthetic world.
The strong winds and weather of the ocean would need some shielding from. Additionally, the depth provided by these hills would be appreciated for scenery and greenery
The design is powered fully by code (OpenSCAD script). Simply run the customizer and try out the different tile options. You can create a tile as big as 6x6 gridfinity squares (though performance in generating the tile might mean it will take a while to generate).
Alternatively, use the attached 3MF file that has an array of pregenerated pieces to start building your city. If you go with this approach, given the variability in height and sizes of the various buildings means multi-color prints could take a long time ( and a lot waste plastic). Use the slicer coloring options to put the colors of your desire instead!
Boost MeThis is my first big code based design and am very excited to see all your feedback. I am happy to continue developing this with other options and features. A boost would mean a lot and and it's free to do!
