thing:689333 modified so

  • main guard is sturdier (2mm instead of 1)
  • 4 pillars to allow top to be glued
  • top piece to be glued on top of the pillars of the bottom guard

This way it looks IMHO better and even if the cx10 drops on the head it will protect the props

I wonder if one used some light masking tape and made a thin wall, or if a thin wall was printed completely encompassing the props how would the small kopter behave

Instructions

Print the bottom part (I printed 0.2mm layer 90% infill), make sure you have properly calibrated machine or the pillars will not print properly, if you print PLA you must have fan cooling the print or the pillars will be a complete mess. The bottom part is 2mm height so make sure you use layer height that will give you whole number of layers for 2mm (for e.g. 0.15mm layer height does not work properly as it is 13.3 layers, 0.2 and 0.25mm layers work perfectly)

Attach the bottom part to your CX-10. I put a bit of double stick tape between CX-10 and the hole of the bottom guard so it's a snug fit and holds properly and it is easy to remove without any screws and it is not permanently glued if you glue it down

Print top layer, it is 1mm height so again use the layer height that's appropriate, I use 0.25mm for the top part, it's 4 layers, prints fast.

Glue to the top layer to the pillars on the bottom guard. I print this with ABS so I use scrap abs dissolved in acetone as a glue but you can use a heated needle to just smelt them together .. if you are printing with PLA that's the best way to glue them together, just smelt them using hot needle (or old soldering iron)

voila that's it :D

btw the guard is not light, 3 times heavier then the original!!!! but works great, the flight is more stable then without the guard, the guard protects your device perfectly and looks awesome (I printed using "glow in the dark ABS") .. now being heavy it means the battery will be running out faster!!! if that's a problem just use the original, light, design :)
