Hi Everyone.
For those of you who have resin-cast chess pieces and chess boards, you probably have noticed that the squares in the chess board sometimes warp, and the problem is you don't really see this before you unmold the board (600 gr wasted resin - not nice)
I finally devised an idea to prevent the warping from the squares on the board.
I am using small magnets I inserted in 3D printed small “things” (sorry I don’t know the correct word, but they remind me of curling 🥌 stones 🙈😜😀😀 So from now on they will be mentioned as Curling stones, if someone knows the correct word, please let me)
Then, I add the “curling stones“ to every second square and pour resin in the other squares, using a 20x2mm Curling Stone.
When the first squares are hardened and cured, I now place some stronger “curling stones” on the squares that are already casted, the stronger ones are 20x3mm or even 20x4mm since now there is resin between the curling stone and the metal plate (at the moment I am using a engineer build plate, but I have ordered a magnetic board I then cut up into the correct size, at my Chess board silicone mold.
Hopefully, my jibbidi dibdab makes sense for you 🙈😜
But most importantly, it’s working, and the warping days are over 🙏🏻
I printed some of them in PETG and some in PLA. It doesn't really matter what filament you are using, since they are just curling stones 🥌 😜
I hope you find this as useful as I did, and if you want, you can
Boost MeYou can always send me a boost - it is much appreciated and helps me buy filament to do some more functional prints. TIA ❤️License:
