Sawzall Spray Paint Can Shaker

With inspiration from other designs available on the web, I designed this 3D-printed part that allows a spray paint can to be shaken via a reciprocating saw (i.e. Sawzall). Some commercial options for a similar design are over $50! 

Other designs of paint mixers, especially ones that use drills, do not work effectively due to the limited motion of the ball inside the paint can. This design, on the reciprocating saw, makes a much more effective mixer!

Beware – the mixing is extreme. Check out the photo of the peening on the bottom of the paint can due to the ball inside the can!

Only a few things are needed to create this!

• (1x or 2x) 2 to 3 inch worm drive hose clamp.
  • Use a high quality clamp, such as a ‘BREEZE’ brand clamp.
• (1x or 2x) Sacrificial saw blade
  • Optionally grind the blade teeth off.
  • Once model is printed, slide the print over the blade and mark the hole locations. Remove print and drill the three ¼-inch holes.
• (3x) ¼-inch screws, 1 inch long.
  • I used ¼ x 20. 
• (3x) ¼-inch nuts, matching screw thread.

*05DEC2025 - Updated to include a new 2-blade, 1-clamp version that should stiffen the saw-zall action thanks to the second blade. Requires drilling another match set of holes into the second blade of course!
