🐦 Chimney-Fill Bird Feeder With Optional Camera Mount
This is a classic-style bird feeder with a modern twist — designed to bring a bit of charm and fun to your garden. It's not just a bird feeder... it's also optionally camera-ready and I have built in a unique way to fill it.
You can choose between two fronts:
- A standard version for a timeless bird feeder look
- Or a camera-ready version with a built-in mount for the Blink Outdoor Camera — perfect for capturing up-close wildlife action or even adding extra garden security
🔧 Key Features:
- Fill Through the Chimney! A custom-fit funnel (included) allows for easy top-up — fun, clean, and mess-free (almost).
- Gravity-Fed Tray: Sloped internal surfaces guide food to the base tray automatically.
- Chimney Lid: Keeps food dry and safe from the elements. It is recessed for a nice fit
- Camera Mount (Optional): A rear press-fit slot holds a Blink Outdoor Camera securely in place with just two small screws.
- Modular Build: Designed in plate-friendly sections for easier printing and minimal support waste.
- Flexible Mounting: Flat bottom allows it to perch on a ledge or table. For fixed mounting, use the pre-designed screw holes in the back to attach it securely to a wall or post.
🖨️ Print Info:
- Split by plate for easier printing.
- Tested with PLA and PETG. Mine are PETG as have found this works better outdoors
- Designed with clean support removal in mind — simply push out supports through the chimney. For even cleaner results, use an opposing material for support interfaces.
🔩 Installation Instructions:
- Mount the Feeder: Use the two pre-drilled holes in the back to attach the feeder securely to a wall, post, or fence using screws.
- Choose Your Front: Select either the standard or camera-compatible front panel. If you are using the Blink Camera, push this in from the back first. The push the bird feeder front into place.
- Secure the Front: Use two M4 x 8mm button head screws to fix the front panel. Note: The holes are pre-threaded — don’t overtighten. I’ve tested multiple removals and replacements without issues, but take care to preserve the threads.
- Fill the Feeder: Insert the funnel through the chimney and pour in your bird feed.
- Seal the Chimney: Once full, swap the funnel for the chimney cap to keep the contents dry and safe.
Enjoy the Show: Sit back and enjoy watching your feathered visitors — or review wildlife footage if you added a camera!
This was a fun one to design — hope you enjoy it.
