100% printed trebuchet just add weight!

 

I tried to design a trebuchet that was easy to print and build and operate. Most desktop trebuchets use a small rope or string for the sling that can work well, but be frustrating to use. 

 

I designed this trebuchet to use US nickels as the counterweight. They are easily available, dense and have a high packing efficiency when stacked. You could also use washers, bbs, lead pellets, fishing weights etc…

 

Just assemble the trebuchet as shown in the image below 

 

To operate, load your ammo into the sling and close the sling and “latch” the release before sliding over the arm arc. 

 

Lock the arm into place with the arm release.

 

Then lift the weight up onto the arm resting in place above the pivot.

 

press down on the arm release and watch it fly!
