MagSlide – Sliding Monitor Dock for MagSafe & Apple Watch

A simple, modular dock that mounts to your monitor and holds your MagSafe and Apple Watch chargers with a clean, slide-in fit.

It’s a frame that sticks to the back of your monitor with strong two-sided tape, and a slider insert that securely holds your magnetic wireless charger.

 

Inspired by YouTuber Bob “I Like To Make Stuff” and their quick-rotating design they posted recently. I tried to simplify the approach by not using any rotating mechanisms but still have the ability to hide the charger when not using it.

Details:

• Fits MagSafe and Apple Watch charging pucks

  • JSAUX brand is cheap and works great with this model (first plate in print profile).

• Attaches with 2-sided tape. 
  • 3M Scotch-Mount Gel double-sided tape works great and will conform to non-flat surfaces.

• Multiple sizes are included in a single print profile to fit various MagSafe models. If your MagSafe charger doesn't fit and you can accurately measure it with calipers, just leave a comment with the outer diameter and thickness. I’ll add it for you.
• Original Fusion file included if you want to tweak for your own purposes
• PETG is ideal so the little tabs can flex. I’m using PLA for mine and it works fine, but PETG should be slightly better.

Install Procedure:

1. Install your charging puck (MagSafe or Apple Watch) into the slider and route the cable out the back

2. Slide the insert into the main frame

3. Too much or too little friction on the slider? You can hit each tab with a lighter for about 3 seconds to soften the plastic. Then gently adjust as needed.

4. Adhere strong two-sided tape  (Scotch-Mount Gel recommended) to the angled face of the frame

5. Clean the back of your monitor with rubbing alcohol – make sure it’s really clean!

6. Before sticking it down: attach your phone or watch to the puck, fully extend the slider, and carefully position it exactly where you want it. Then stick the frame down to the monitor and you are done.

7. Need to remove the puck later? Just slide the insert back out of the frame! Need to remove the frame? Usually a twisting motion is the most effective way to release the double-sided tape.

Fusion File Included

I’ve included the original Fusion file in case you want to make adjustments or customize it to better suit your setup. Not everyone shares their source files, but I know it’s helpful. The model is parametric and organized to make edits as easy as possible. Please respect the model license.
