Photo Frame Generator
Update V1.3 - added ‘scaling’ setting in advanced section. Use this to scale everything. Useful to get around makerwold bed size limitation. Rescale to correct size in your slicer.
Welcome to the Photo Frame / Picture Frame generator.
With this tool you can create photo frames for any size photo and many styles of frame.
Generator includes:
- Frame profile - select from many different profiles
- Frame board size
- Image size and orientation
- Photo frame stand
- Photo frame hanger cord (wire)
- Attachments for magnets - create your own fridge magnet!
The tool will generate a 3mf file that has
- Photo frame
- Frame board
- Frame back
- Frame stand or hanger
**Please Note - this OpenSCAD script needs to be run using the Maker World web page - it is not supported sing the Bambu Handy App.
How To Use
To generate your personalised photo frame, follow these simple instructions:
Remember to hit “Generate” after each step to update the model
- Select the “Customize” button on the page (not supported on Bambu Handy App yet)
- Select the PictureFrame.scad
- Select Customize - this will open the customizer
- Select the "Assemble" view on the preview screen
- Go to the “Customize” screen
- In the “Photo or Picture Frame sizing”
- Select from the standard sizes in the photo size dropdown
or
Select “custom” and enter the desired dimensions for the image in the custom fields - Select the orientation
- In the “Frame Details” section
- Select your desired profile
- Select the desired “frame width" for the frame profile
- Select the desired “frame board width"
- Ïn the “Attachments” section
- Select the desired attachment type from the dropdown
- Hit Generate and your frame will be displayed in the 3D viewer
- Select Download to get your 3mf to print.
Notes:
Assembly:
To assemble the photo frame:
- Print all the plates in the 3mf file.
- Place the frame board into the frame - this only fits one way up. A dab of superglue can be used to keep it in place but is not really required.
- Place your photo in the desired location in the frame. A dab of glue can assist here as well
- If you are using magnets:
- Place the magnets in the partial holes in the back part in each corner (4 places)
- Press into place until they are seated
- Note I use a pair of pliers to “squeeze” the magnets in
- The magnets are tight so as not to become loose and become a health hazard.
- Put the back on the photo frame.
- The back will ‘snap' into place at the centre of each of the frame edges.
- If you are using the Stand, attach the stand to the back of the frame with the centre and edge hole
- If you are using the Hanger attach each end of the hanger to the holes in the side of the back of the frame.
