This customized 3D Benchy was designed as a tribute to the original 3D Benchy model,

celebrating its 10th anniversary while enhancing its utility as a comprehensive 3D printer calibration tool. 

While maintaining the iconic silhouette and charm of the original Benchy, this upgraded version incorporates multiple precision testing features to help evaluate print quality and mechanical tolerances.

Key modifications include:

  • Bridge Testing: 5mm, 10mm, and 15mm spans to evaluate bridging performance.

  • Dimensional Accuracy: Built-in inner and outer diameter tests along the X, Y, and Z axes.
  • Overhang Stress Test: Angled surfaces ranging from 10° to 80° to assess overhang capabilities without supports.

     

  • Rotational Fitment Test: Two integrated rotatable components designed with 0.2mm and 0.3mm clearances to examine rotating tolerances and functional movement.

  • Engraved Text Calibration: Recessed text features at 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm sizes to test fine detail resolution.

The entire model is printed as a single piece, with no assembly required. This ensures accurate benchmarking of a printer's ability to handle complex geometry, bridging, fine text, dimensional tolerance, and moving parts—all within a visually familiar form.
