Please read the instructions carefully - 3D printing brick studs can be very challenging!

Instructions

STEP 1

3D print the Benchy model and then remove the support material.

STEP 2

If you want the Benchy to float nicely, you'll also need to 3D print the Outrigger model.

STEP 3

Slide the Outrigger onto Benchy.

Tips:

  • You can slide the Outrigger to different positions in order to adjust the centre of gravity - this is useful if there are a lot of heavy bricks attached! Try starting with it in the centre and adjusting as needed.
  • If the Outrigger is too loose, try putting a short length of tape between Benchy and the Outrigger.

STEP 4

Attach the Wind-up Motor.

STEP 5

Attach Bricks.

You're now ready to place it into water, wind up the motor, and have fun!

Tips:

  • Larger bricks tend to attach more firmly. I recommend placing larger pieces (eg: a 2x4 Plate) onto the Benchy, and then attaching smaller brick pieces to that.
  • 3D printing brick studs is very tricky! If your bricks aren't staying attached, try calibrating your 3D printer or adjusting slicer settings. The provided print profiles work great for me, but I can't guarantee they will work great for you.
