Beavis And Butt-Head Mini TV

 

A mini TV from the Beavis And Butt-Head series. 

Inspired by the Simpsons Version created by Brandon Withrow.

Non-Printed Parts (Pretty much everything that Brandon used in his build except the screws).

• A Raspberry Pi Zero with Headers
• A Waveshare 2.8" 640x480 Screen with Raspberry Pi GPIO Interface
• Type PAM8302 Mono 2.5 W Audio Amplifier
• 1.5” 4ohm 3W Audio Speaker
• Micro SD Card, Large enough to hold the video you want.
• Micro USB DIP Breakout Board (Or short Micro USB extension)
• Micro USB Male Solder Plug (Or short Micro USB extension)
• 1K Trim Potentiometer
• Micro Push Button Switch
• Wire, 22ga or smaller.
• 4 - M3x5 Button Head Screws (or equivalent)

Printed Parts

I used Sunlu PLA+ Silver for the TV body and back. The detailed parts were some recycled 3DFuel which happened to be the darker shade of grey i was looking for. 

Printing both halves of the antennas is optional and only needed if you want a more rounded look. 

 

I recommend using a smooth PEI/High Temp plate but you could probably use a textured if you prefer. I tested printing on X1C and H2D without issues. 

 

 

 

 

 

Electronics / Software / Videos / Etc

I am not going to go into detail here as Brandon did an exceptional job covering all of this in his guide. 

If you listen to me, there will probably be fire.

Follow his instructions while you are waiting for things to print.

 

Assembly

Remove support from the TV frame and use a small bead of glue to attach the bezel. 

This provides a seat for the LCD so let the glue cure thoroughly before installing the LCD. 
 

 

 

After the glue has cured, place the LCD and use hot glue to secure it. Place and glue the power switch, volume control, and USB board.

Secure the speaker into the back panel with some more glue…

 

Make sure everything will tuck into the TV nicely before attaching the rear panel…

Insert the rear panel into the TV and use the four M3x5 screws to secure it…

If you opt to glue the antenna halves together, use a small drop of glue and align the base the best you can. The antennas are easy to bend into shape after so don't worry  too much about them…

Use a small drop of glue and attach the rabbit ears to the top of the TV…

For the coat hanger, glue into the small block and glue to the back of the TV. Placement is personal preference as it appears in different locations throughout the show. 

That's it!

Toss on top of the TV Stand for extra nostalgia…
