Description
This is my first draft of this small planter with the iconic decor inspired by the shiba inu dog breed.
This version is printable separately, so you don't need an AMS to print it. I am decently satisfied with the result, but I still think it can be improved. I am not totally happy about the gaps that show between the orange and the white parts, caused by supports and layer height. I am working on an another version of this model where the front face is printed in one go using AMS, but it is still separate from the main body of the vase. Printing the whole model as a multi-color print is too long and expensive so I want to avoid it.
This is my update on this planter. I think it overall looks much better and the 8 magnets are very strong and keep the front in place well. It is a compromise between using no AMS at all and printing the whole model in one go using multi-color printing. This variant uses small fitting joints to keep the orange and white parts together, but glue is still recommended.
The inner shell is then located inside the outer shell by fitting it into 4 cylindrical pin: the fit is very tight, gentle force may be needed (I used a rubber mallet). Same for the feet: they are now using pins, a very tight fit to ensure they sit snugly and firm.
Magnets are needed for this version: eight 8mm x 2mm magnets to keep the face in place.
All parts fit together with super-glue. The inner black shell should be used as the main anchor point which you can glue the rest of the parts to. Start with the main orange and white parts of the planter, then add the face and ears features and finally the feet.
There are drainage holes at the bottom.
