Description

This is a print in place stake that can be filled with all kinds of things to repel animals/pests from a garden. It does not need supports, but brim is highly recommended for the Main Body part. It comes with 2 tolerance options for the Cap piece. The model is designed for use outdoors, having small slits to allow odor to pass through, but prevent most bugs from entering.

How to use:

To keep animals away from your vulnerable plants, it's best to create a perimeter of these stakes around the area you want to protect about 5-10 feet apart. However, it's better to just place 1 or 2 of them in close proximity to plants that are particularly susceptible to critters.

Next, fill each stake with whatever odor producing spray, item, or liquid needed. Garlic or Vinegar will turn most animals away from your garden, but some may require special scents:

  • Deer : Strong herbs like Mint, Garlic, and Onion, or even human hair
  • Rabbits : Chili powder, Garlic, Vinegar, and Chives
  • Squirrels : Vinegar, Garlic, Pepper, Mint, Spicy herbs, Coffee, Cinnamon, or Bleach
  • Raccoons : Vinegar, Spearmint, Garlic, Cayenne pepper, Spearmint, Onion, or Bleach
  • For other animals, just look up scents they hate

You could just plant some of these in your garden for a similar effect, but this 3D printable stake is a quick, easy, method that uses common spices and herbs that you probably have in your pantry.

Sidenote:

Keep in mind, this is designed for use outdoors, so you should consider using  ASA, or at least PETG. PLA will work fine, but you should check on it often and you will most likely have to replace them once sun damage gets too bad.
