Description
This is an adaptor for food dehydrator to allow it to dry filament while printing. It is compatible with https://www.printables.com/model/351745-dehydrator-to-filament-dryer-conversion-for-sencor so it is possible to have a filament drying at the bottom while having another roll on top that is rolling into the printer by stacking these together (please see pictures).
I used this with the Sencor SFD 790WH. When the temperature is set to 55°C with the knob the top of the enclosure measures approx 43-44°C which is perfect. This food dehydrator can dry PETG as well as can have 60°C air (if temp knob is set to max).
I used a Xiaomi temperature sensor 2.
I recommend printing this (and the roller) in PETG or any material that has its glass temperature rather high, as PLA deforms. (Pictures used PETG and it worked perfect).
I printed this on an Ender 3 (235x235 build plate), all parts need to placed diagonally. I had to use brims with the right, left and cover parts as I had some warping with the PETG.
Basically the left part can be printed without any supports, but on the right side the temperature sensor place needs support (I used Cura's custom support plugin for that) and on the cover the middle section needs support too (unless the printer is dialed is so much that can bridge like 20cm as in that case printing on the side may be better and potentially can avoid supports for the cover).
I recommend having 3-5 walls to have a strong part and set infill to 0% (little air between the walls may help with the isolation).
Print 2 of the TopLockPin and BottomLockPin and one from every other part.
I also added the Fusion 360 parametric archive file if someone wants to modify it.
Assembly is straight forward, the Right and the Left side can be locked together with the Pins the temperature sensor can be glued (e.g. with some silicone for better sealing) or taped to its spot.
The whole assembly can be put on the top of the food dehydrator.
